Moving and Handling 5 Day Train the Trainer
Aims and Intended Learning Outcomes
Learner should be able to:
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of relevant legislations that affects them individually, their job, their employer and employees
- Understand their vulnerability to injury when undertaking Manual Handling tasks
- Understand the workings of the spine and how to reduce the risks of spinal injury
- Demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of the principles of biomechanics
- Demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of ergonomics
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge or risk assessment
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of 'controversial techniques'
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of up-to-date practical skills in moving and handling clients in a care setting
- Demonstrate the skills and confidence to convey Manual Handling knowledge and skills to others
Assessment and Certification
The course assessment will comprise of:
- Ongoing assessment of skills and knowledge through our Moving & Handling Passport Scheme
- Delivery of a group mini-training session in order to assess teaching skills, organisation and delivery of appropriate course content
- A practical skills assessment, which takes place continuously over the final day of the course using scenarios related to the attendees work
- Yearly update required.
Upon successful completion of the course, the learner will receive a certificate from Well Handled and endorsed by Open College Network, as an accredited course.
This course is accredited by OCN Credit4Learning at Level 3
