Moving and Handling 5 Day Train the Trainer

Aims and Intended Learning Outcomes

Learner should be able to:

• Demonstrate a sound knowledge of relevant legislations that affects them individually, their job, their employer and employees
• Understand their vulnerability to injury when undertaking Manual Handling tasks
• Understand the workings of the spine and how to reduce the risks of spinal injury
• Demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of the principles of biomechanics
• Demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of ergonomics
• Demonstrate a sound knowledge or risk assessment
• Demonstrate a sound knowledge of 'controversial techniques'
• Demonstrate a sound knowledge of up-to-date practical skills in moving and handling clients in a care setting
• Demonstrate the skills and confidence to convey Manual Handling knowledge and skills to others

Assessment and Certification

The course assessment will comprise of:

• Ongoing assessment of skills and knowledge through our Moving & Handling Passport Scheme
• Delivery of a group mini-training session in order to assess teaching skills, organisation and delivery of appropriate course content
• A practical skills assessment, which takes place continuously over the final day of the course using scenarios related to the attendees work
• Yearly update required.

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner will receive a certificate from Well Handled and endorsed by Open College Network, as an accredited course.
